Day One to Three - 25 Aug 08 to 27 Aug 08

tried but since we can't access to wordpress, i've decided to open this blog for my daily journal! it's been the 4th day since I step into Wuhan...

Day 1
25 August 2008, Monday

Slept for only one hour and off I go to the airport with my mum, sister and brother who happens to skip his one day school for me. (:

Reached the airport at exactly 530am, saw a lot of the camp peeps sending us at the departure hall and it’s kind of heartwarming to realize that they have reached the airport last night till then.
As routine, took the group photos with the banner, and of course, the “last” meal with my family. mixed feelings occur inside me when I saw Clar cried while talking to her sis on the phone...

I’ll miss my family definitely.

Checked in with clar and well, got to wave goodbye to our love ones.

Inside the plane.

Took the 4 hours flight to GuangZhou safely and that when we collecting our luggage and Suelin found that she could missed her luggage or something that she didn't manage to found her luggage.

Luckily and luckily, another batch of Ngee Ann poly mate who happens to travel with us took the wrong luggage and eventually took Suelin’s one. What a relieved case please, since we can’t imagine if it’s other people who took the wrong luggage.

BaiYun airport was where we started our pictures taking whether with friends or our groups since there’s plenty of time for us to spend so as to catch the transfer flight to Wuhan. Bet that all of us was too sleepy that during the 2 hours flight everyone is sleeping, or rather, I’ve slept throughout without sensing anything.
Finally one last step to our destination, we took the 1 hour bus ride to our hostel in Wuhan University. Along the way we have saw how the traffic works, the shops and shopping centre…
What amuse me was that my first impression of Wuhan was: it’s look simply like how Vietnam looks like. The telephones wires and cables, the traffic and how people crossing the road, it’s seems like Vietnam to me!

Li Xuan, the new student and volunteers to take us to the hostel was rather friendly as along the way, the guys asked her a lot of questions regarding anything about Wuhan and she answered them without scowling. (:

By the time when we reached the hostel, its 7+pm and the night was rather dark. Honestly, the hostel wasn’t really into our exception. However, though we are quite satisfied with the room and air-con. What troubled us most were the hazy surroundings, and the sickening cockroaches in the room.
Three cockroaches were killed by our fellow mates in just one night at different locations. We are prepared for more cockroaches coming out of our sight and all thanks to those macho guys in this trip (though there are only 6 guys out of this trip). Without them, I think we can’t really cope well with cockroaches and our overweight luggage.

They are our heroes, though today was just just one day and they have helped us too much even though we don’t really know well each other. Just a shout of their names, they came to our rescued of the torturement from the hyper cockroaches since their room is just opposite us. Simply thanks them for protecting all of us without any hesitation and the warnings and watch-out from them.
To the guys: we really appreciate a lot! (:

Our first dinner was settled at the mcdonalds which was rather a long distance for us to walk from our hostel. Satisfied as the set meal was cheaper than our hometown’s and that was delicious since we are going to die of hunger.

Our room.

Cleaned our room and arranged the stuff nicely in the room before this entry and I feel home since I’m lying on the bedsheet I took from home and the company of great friends, Clar and Weiling. (:

Couldn’t call or webcaming with family since we haven’t gotten ourselves a pre-paid card and cable will arrive tomorrow. Can’t wait to see my family and contacting friends in Singapore. It’s a long day for us today, and yes, we’re all worn-out.

Tomorrow will be a better day! Ciao!
Day 2
26 August 2008, Tuesday
the way to class..

The weather here in Wuhan is unbearable with our long pants and shoes. We first had GuoTie as our very first breakfast and it was indeed cheap with 5 for RMB1 and had the soya bean which was totally different taste from the soya bean we had in Singapore.
Went for the orientation and opening ceremony held by the WUST and we did walk around the school compounds; our classroom and canteens.

Team D!

And after which, it’s our free and easy time! We went to the supermarket and bought the necessities we need for our dormitory and as usual, we had mcdonalds for our lunch again. The spicy grilled chicken burger was pretty tasteful…

Some of us went out to get our pre-paid card to call home and after for 3 hours of waiting and walking, we finally got it and the very first thing to do was to record everyone’s number and to call back home. (:

just frustrated that our dormitory doesn’t have the cable while some of them already has it! Just because we “locked” Weiling inside the room and she can’t open the door when the man-in-charge wanting to connect the cable for us!

Stay throughout our room hoping for the man-in-charge to come and asked Willis to buy us food. The fried rice was very good and of course… cheap! Caught “Jumper” online while having our dinner.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLIS! (:
met everyone at Karen’s dormitory to prepare for the birthday surprise for Willis. All the girls brought our pillow along, at the strike of twelve; we knocked his door and sang songs for him. Pillow was for the birthday bash from us. (:

Night!

Day 3
27 August 2008, Wednesday

Had our first lesson today which was conducted by Mr Puah.

our classroom with Mr Puah.

Afterwhich we went to buy GuoTie (yes, again) for the fingerfood with our cup noodles and Vivien's room peeps came and join us.
and yes! I'm very happy because there's bubble tea selling near our school! Hmm, but that doesn't suit my liking since the milk tea over here is rather milky. But those teas are good! (:

Next, we took the bus to Zhong Shan You Le Yuan. And yes! We took the rollar coaster and Viking Ship which was awesome. That was my first time taking Viking Ship and that was greattt.

Team D!

Crumpler gang!

Walked around the places and took loads of photos.
Walked to the nearest shopping centre and we are contented as we bought clothes which cost only RMB25. (:
shopping is good, but our legs are suffering...

First time taking cab back to hostel and frankly speaking, their culture is really different from us.
Like for instance, the cab driver could stop anytime and get off the cab to buy cigarettes before moving on to our destination; although they are driving recklessly, but there's no safety belt for them to move it.
isn't it cool~
and what's best is that we finally have cable for each now and had been webcaming with my family and emails my besties.
this feeling is dannnnnn goood!
(:
it's been a long day. Ciao!
